Nagpur, April 30: The Butibori flyover, which experienced a 100 mm subsidence on December 24, is currently under repair. The partial collapse has disrupted traffic in the region, causing long delays and diversions near the busy Butibori junction.
Authorities report that the existing iron scaffolding under the affected section will be dismantled in the next 15 days. Following this, it will take around 10 additional days to reopen the flyover, depending on safety test outcomes.
Though the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has not declared an official reopening date, the restoration may complete within 25 days if all phases proceed without delay.
The collapsed cantilever beams have been reinforced, and work is ongoing to strengthen the surface using Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer (CFRP) sheets. A final structural load test will determine the safety and readiness of the bridge for public use.
Meanwhile, the traffic bottleneck at the Butibori junction continues to cause frustration among commuters. Alternate route advisories have been issued, but congestion persists due to construction machinery and narrowed lanes.
An NHAI expert team visited the site several weeks after the incident. Delays in assessment and repair initiation contributed to the extended repair timeline. Regional officials have yet to provide detailed comments on the issue.
