WCL Strengthens Vidarbha’s Healthcare: ₹169.26 Lakh CSR Support to Dr. Hedgewar Blood Centre

In a significant move to strengthen healthcare services in Vidarbha, Western Coalfields Limited (WCL) has contributed ₹169.26 lakh under its CSR initiative to the Dr. Hedgewar Blood Centre in Nagpur. The inauguration ceremony took place on 22nd April 2025, with Dr. Hemant Shard Pande, Director (HR), WCL, officially launching the newly installed advanced medical equipment.

This strategic CSR project introduces state-of-the-art medical technology, including the Spectra Optia Apheresis System, Cryofuge Centrifuges, and the Evolis 4 Plate ELISA Processor. These additions are set to significantly boost the blood centre’s capacity, benefiting patients suffering from thalassemia, sickle cell anemia, and other critical health conditions.

During the event, Dr. Pande emphasized WCL's unwavering dedication to societal welfare, stating that the organization is committed to empowering medical institutions that serve humanity with compassion and excellence. This latest initiative reflects WCL's mission to drive positive change through healthcare support across the region.

Established in 1993, Dr. Hedgewar Blood Centre has been a pillar of hope for patients across Vidarbha. With the new technological upgrades, the Centre reaffirms its noble mission: “None shall suffer for want of blood.” The strengthened infrastructure will ensure faster, safer, and more efficient services for those in dire need, setting new benchmarks in patient care and blood management in the region.
